Do You Need Emergency Dental Care?
The dentist and staff at Image Dental do the very best to accommodate any emergencies that arise for both existing and new patients in the Stockton area. A dental emergency can be painful and stressful and we want to get you through it as smoothly as possible. If you are experiencing a dental emergency, call us right away and let us help.
Do You Need an Emergency Dentist?
As a rule of thumb, dental emergencies most often refer to a natural or artificial tooth (or teeth) that has become loose, moved out of place or has fallen out. Pain, of course, may be another indicator of an emergency or, at the very least, creates an intolerable situation we need to solve. We don’t want anyone to have to put up with an excruciating toothache.
Whether or not you’re sure it is an emergency situation, call us first to let us know what is going on. We will be able to tell you how to proceed by either setting up an appointment in the very near future or having you come in right away. If you can, placing a call to us is always the best first step.
Types of Dental Emergencies and What to Do
If something has happened to dental restoration work (fillings, caps, dentures, etc.) we will make an appointment for you to come in as soon as possible to have it fixed. As long as you are not experiencing any serious pain, calling during normal hours to book an appointment is the best course of action. When making the appointment, you may receive some instruction as to what to do in the meantime. If you are in pain, be sure to let us know!
In the event of a break or a chip to a natural tooth, contact us for the soonest available appointment. Rinsing with lukewarm water and applying gauze can help in some cases. Be sure to keep the area clean until you can get in to see your dentist and try not to chew foods on the side of the problem area. Again, let us know the details of what you are experiencing when you call. Be mindful of any sharp edges that may have resulted from the break.
When a tooth has been knocked out, getting to your dentist (or after-hours dentist) as soon as possible is the best chance of saving the tooth. If you have lost a tooth, call us right away and place the tooth in a small container of milk and salt. If milk is not available, use water. Acting quickly is important if you have lost a tooth or multiple teeth.
Lastly, if you are experiencing a severe toothache and are unsure of the cause, do not hesitate to call us right away.
Not Insured? Not a Problem!
If you don’t have dental insurance, don’t hesitate to call us. There are a few options that we recommend to help you cover the cost of dental treatment in case of an emergency. No matter what, know that you deserve the best care possible.
We are currently working with these patient financing providers to help you get the emergency dental care you need.
